Edward A. Schwartz is the President of Schwartz & Co. Founded in 1976, Schwartz & Co. is registered with the SEC as a Registered Investment Advisor and with FINRA as a Broker-dealer. He concentrates on serving ERISA institutional retirement plans.  

Mr. Schwartz graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University, earning a bachelor degree in Finance with a minor in English. He graduated With High Distinction from the University of Michigan, earning an MBA degree in Finance and Accounting. He completed an executive education program in investments and finance at Harvard University. He spent an undergraduate term studying international business at Oxford University in Oxford, England. While at Georgetown, he was a pitcher on the Division I baseball team. He also graduated as Valedictorian from Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills, MI.

In 2021, Mr. Schwartz was selected by the U.S. Secretary of Labor, Eugene Scalia, as one of five national appointees, to serve on the Department of Labor’s ERISA Advisory Council. This is his second appointment to serve at the U.S. DOL, having first been appointed by then U.S. Secretary of Labor, Elaine Chao, to serve from 2006-2008.

He periodically serves as an expert witness in arbitration proceedings involving institutional retirement plans.  In 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 Schwartz & Co. was recognized by Barron’s and The Wall Street Journal as a top institutional investment consultant in the United States.

Mr. Schwartz served on the Board of Regents of Georgetown University.  He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Brother Rice High School. He is a recipient of the Brother Rice Distinguished Alumnus Award.  He is a board member of the Douglas Allison Foundation.  He is a member of the Advisory Council for Capital Group, an investment management firm based in Los Angeles. 

Before joining Schwartz & Co., he worked in New York, NY for PaineWebber Inc.’s Investment Banking Division, focusing on M&A and corporate finance transactions for publicly traded companies.

Mr. Schwartz is licensed as a General Securities Principal, an Investment Banking Representative, and an Investment Adviser Representative. The Institutional Services Group within Schwartz & Co. oversees approximately 135 institutional clients. He has been in the investment business for 32 years.

He and his wife, Nancy, have three children.
