Matthew J. Whitty serves as Director of Schwartz & Co.’s Institutional Services Group. As a Registered Representative and Investment Adviser, he focuses on research and monitoring of investment vehicles, as well as service to our private and public institutional clients.
Prior to joining Schwartz & Co., Mr. Whitty worked for Merrill Lynch Capital in Chicago as a Senior Specialist in the Finance and Accounting Department. Prior to Merrill Lynch, he worked in the Corporate Finance Department at The PrivateBank & Trust Co. in Chicago. While working at The PrivateBank, Mr. Whitty worked on specific groups that assisted in launching the bank’s Initial Public Offering in 1999.
Mr. Whitty received his Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Strategic Management from DePaul University in 2001. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Michigan State University in 1997. Mr. Whitty attended Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills, MI.
In 2009, Mr. Whitty was selected to serve on the Brother Rice High School Retirement Plan Committee, which oversees the Brother Rice High School Retirement Plan.
Mr. Whitty has been married to his wife, Katherine, for 22 years. They have two children, Piper (age 18) and Campbell (age 16), and reside in Commerce, MI.
